This free IITP event will be held at the Aurora Centre in Christchurch and is open to all year 9-11 students and their parents from the Christchurch and surrounding areas.
The focus of the event is exciting the students and their parents about a career in IT. Parents play a big role in what career options students start to consider, the event is looking to disprove some of the misconceptions that both students and parents have about what an IT career actually is and expose them to the wide range of roles that make up the industry.
The event opens at 5.30pm and will consist of presentations, spot prizes and the ability for students and their parents to talk with local industry representatives about the career options that are on offer while enjoying some light refreshments.
There are a couple of ways to get involved.
- There is room for a dozen or so stands in the downstairs foyer, upstairs foyer and green room, where you can promote yourself, the benefits of working with your company and show any products that you think may be of interest to students. You will also have the opportunity to talk one on one with the attendees as they move through the different stands. There is a cost of $100 for each “stand” to help recover costs of holding the event. Each stand will include a covered table and two chairs. You are more than welcome to bring any existing stand infrastructure you may have.
- You can contribute by providing a spot prize of either a product or cash for the event. Spot prizes will be drawn at the conclusion of the presentations in the auditorium before refreshments are served.
