Recruiting and Managing Migrant Staff for the Canterbury Recovery
DATE: Tuesday 3 November
TIME: 9:00am to 11:00am
VENUE: Quality Hotel Elms, 456 Papanui Road
Join us at this FREE seminar for all Canterbury businesses that employ, or are looking to employ migrants, with specific focus on recruitment from the Philippines for the Canterbury Rebuild.
Mark Williams (Immigration Partner) and Rachael Mason (Associate) of Lane Neave, team up with Lana Hart of CECC and businesses that effectively retain migrant staff, to provide an immigration and settlement guide for employers of skilled migrant workers in Canterbury.
This seminar will:
- Provide an update for employers regarding migrant recruitment, visa processing and recent trends in the changing Canterbury labour market
- Discuss employer accreditation, transfer of labour under the new visa system, and provide reflections on the new labour hire accreditation scheme five months on from its introduction
- Give practical tips and advice to employers who recruit offshore migrants with respect to the issue of financial “bonding” of migrant workers (what costs you can and cannot bond)
At the seminar we will also be hearing from a panel of employers from different industry sectors with a wealth of experience in navigating the immigration process for employees. The panel will address how they manage migrant recruitment and particular settlement issues (including the concept of bonding) to improve retention.
