DESCRIPTION:LUNCHTIME TECH SESSIONS brought to you by Canterbury Tech – with Tim Woodfield (Professor of Regenerative Medicine in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Otago Christchurch / Director of the University of Otago Centre for Bioengineering & Translational Health Technologies) as he presents Biomanufacturing: Breakthroughs in 3D Bioprinting and Regenerative Medicine\nRegister Now!\nBreakthroughs and translation of disruptive technologies in healthcare and medicine take interdisciplinary teams and innovative approaches over extended periods of the basic research and clinical/commercial implementation pathway. This talk discusses examples how embracing interdisciplinary challenges and collaboration can shape leadership and research strategy in managing complex systems and harnessing convergent technologies in healthcare and medicine. Examples will particularly focus on our use of biomanufacturing technologies and stem cell biology in the development of 3D printed medical devices and Regenerative Medicine therapies with national and international partners to deliver global impact.\n  \nBio: \nTim Woodfield is Professor of Regenerative Medicine in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Otago Christchurch.  He leads the Christchurch Regenerative Medicine and Tissue Engineering (CReaTE) Group and is Director of the University of Otago Centre for Bioengineering & Translational Health Technologies. His research platform involves stem cell therapies\, 3D bioprinting and additive manufacturing of medical devices applied to regenerative medicine and advanced 3D in vitro tissue culture models. \nHaving trained in biomaterials and tissue engineering in North America and Europe\, he has >170 publications (h-index: 59) and received a number of awards including a prestigious Rutherford Discovery Fellowship from the Royal Society of New Zealand and the University of Otago Research Gold Medal.
