Public Documentary Screening: Ghost in the Machine

Requested by our members, join us for our first public screening of an AI safety documentary: Ghost in the Machine that recently premiered at the 2026 Sundance Film festival.

### The Film

Directed by Valerie Veatch, this investigative essay documentary moves beyond the technical hype to explore the philosophical, cultural, and political forces driving the global AI boom. It excavates the “untold origins” of artificial intelligence—arguing that they lie not in machines, but in power structures and the “human exploitation” without which AI would not function.

The screening will approach questions such as:

Following the footage, we will host a critical discussion to deconstruct the documentary’s core arguments. We will explore the validity of the filmmaker’s claims and debate the pros and cons of the film compared to other influential documentaries like Coded Bias.
