Curiosity might kill cats – but it also saves businesses
Redvespa is a specialist business analysis consultancy. While many consultancies try to cover everything, Redvespa focuses on one thing, helping organisations understand problems clearly and design better ways of working.
The Ōtautahi Christchurch team works with organisations across the South Island, while also supporting our national team. They partner with a range of organisations including local government, utilities, and growing technology companies, helping leaders navigate change, whether that means introducing new technology, improving inefficient processes, or building capability within their teams.
Recently, Redvespa partnered with a major South Island utility provider that was facing a significant shift, moving from traditional paper-based field processes to a data-led, digital-first model of asset management.
Rather than jumping straight to a technology solution, the Redvespa team got curious. They spent time on the ground understanding how the organisation really worked day to day, mapping operational strengths, identifying capability gaps, and connecting their technical GIS systems with the practical needs of field maintenance crews.
The result was not simply a new system, but a stronger and more resilient way of working, helping ensure the region has the sustainable infrastructure needed for the next 50 years of growth.
Redvespa was originally founded in Wellington in 2003 and has played an important role in growing the business analysis profession in New Zealand. The company helped introduce the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) to the country in 2006 and continues to support the development of the profession today.
Alongside client work, Redvespa is an active part of the tech community, supporting initiatives such as Canterbury Tech Summit and BA & Beyond meetups in Christchurch.
At the heart of the company’s work is a simple idea: curiosity leads to better outcomes.
In a fast-moving tech environment it is easy to jump to solutions before fully understanding the problem. Redvespa encourages organisations to slow down, ask better questions, and focus on the “why” before deciding on the “how”.
Because often the most valuable tool in any project is not the technology. It is understanding the problem properly in the first place.
