Amy Coster

2026 Board Nominee

I have 20 years experience in finance and government sectors in New Zealand and Australia, and currently I am working in the wealth management sector as a client-focused Advisor. I am also a member of ‘The Institute of Finance Professionals New Zealand Inc’, and a board member for the Christchurch Committee. I believe enduring trust-based relationships are key in partnering with clients to provide strategic financial advice.

What specific expertise can you bring to Canterbury Tech Board?

I bring years of experience in managing both client and stakeholder relationships and partnerships, and am a confident professional, specialising in promoting products and services with existing referrers and customers and securing new. Because of this I have a unique ability to establish and maintain strong relationships. I adapt well and pick up new information quickly and deliver results. I have a well-established personal brand in Christchurch, and I have grown contacts and opportunities by being an active member in networking forums, business organisation’s, incorporated societies and my own networking groups. The positions I have held in Banking have allowed for personal growth as an effective leader, and communicator. Over the last 12 months in my role I have been more involved in events in the tech space including Techfest, Canterbury Tech Summit, and the New Zealand Aerospace Summit. I believe with my experience and networks I can bring valuable skills to the Canterbury Tech Board, to help support and promote membership and events, and facilitate key partnerships.

What do you see are the top three opportunities to advancing the tech sector in Canterbury?

  1. We need more collaboration across sectors across the Canterbury region which can happen with more engagement at Canterbury Tech meetings, ensuring members feel supported to network and create relationships.
  2. Greater promotional coverage and engagement, to ensure those in the various sectors know about events, meetings and having the opportunity to connect, with the use of social media platforms.
  3. Creating pathways for students to come into tech by creating relationships with local and internationals school and tertiary providers.

What would be your first point of action/suggestion on the Board if you were to be elected?

Utilising my networks to promote Canterbury Tech, and looking connections to create relationships that will assist with key partnerships for growth.
