Canterbury Tech Announces Changes for 2025

Canterbury Tech, the top tech member organisation in Canterbury, New Zealand, has announced that General Manager Louisa Taylor will not be renewing her contract after two and a half years. The organisation is gearing up to transition as it prepares to bring in new leadership next year.

During her time at the helm, Taylor played a key role in growing Canterbury Tech and boosting its profile in the local and national tech scene. Her accomplishments include growing membership by over 25%, running three successful Tech Summits and leading a major rebranding effort.

Michelle Shirtcliffe, Acting Chair of Canterbury Tech, praised Taylor’s contributions: “Louisa brought her creativity, enthusiasm, and head for business to Canterbury Tech. She’s really improved our online presence, streamlined how we work, and built important relationships within the tech community.”

Talyor leaves behind a legacy that includes creation and automation of business systems and key processes, and the launch of TechFest, a yearly event bringing together all of Canterbury Tech’s strategic partners. She’s also been crucial in improving the organisation’s digital following and engagement.

As part of the transition plan, the Canterbury Tech Board will handle day-to-day operations until the end of the year. Michelle Shirtcliffe, Acting Chair, will be the main point of contact during this time.

“We’re taking a team approach to ensure a smooth handover,” Shirtcliffe explained. “The Board is committed to keeping up the momentum Louisa has built while we get ready to bring in a new General Manager in the new year.”

The leadership change doesn’t affect the ongoing board election. Voting is currently underway, with results to be announced at the upcoming AGM on Tuesday 3rd December.

“It’s a pivotal time for Canterbury Tech,” Shirtcliffe shared. “As we prepare to welcome a new board and General Manager in 2025, we remain committed to building on our foundation and continuing to drive innovation and connection within Canterbury’s tech sector.”
