Canterbury Tech March 2024 Monthly Event

Join us for a special event for our March monthly event with Ben Reid,Technology Futurist at Memia and panelists Roger DennisKate Sutton, and Sam Ragnarsson.

Ben will be launching the digital version of his book, ‘Fast Forward Aotearoa – How exponential technology is defining the future of New Zealand…and what we can do about it.’ 

Following his presentation and introduction to his new book, Ben will be joined on stage by a Future of Aotearoa, NZ panel for a discussion and to answer attendees’ questions.

 And a great bonus – attendees will get access to a digital version of Ben Reid’s upcoming book, ‘Fast Forward Aotearoa.

About Ben Reid:

Memia founder Ben Reid works as a strategic technology advisor with senior leadership teams across Aotearoa New Zealand, Australia and the Asia-Pacific region, advising on technology strategy, growth planning and innovation.

He is also an experienced commentator and public speaker focusing on new emerging technology trends and their impacts on business and society.

Ben is the author of the weekly Memia newsletter which tracks the cutting edge of new emerging technologies and their implications for society and the economy, now read by thousands around the world. He brings over 25 years’ experience in software development, enterprise architecture, digital transformation and strategic business consulting. He was the founding Executive Director of the AI Forum of New Zealand, a national AI policy think tank from 2017-2019 – and was also chair of Canterbury Tech from 2011-2013.

About the panel:

Roger Dennis, Dennis Partners – Roger Dennis has worked around the world for two decades. His work on foresight has been referenced in The Financial Times, Knowledge At Wharton, CNN, Australian Financial Review, and many other publications. He is an Edmund Hillary Fellow, and has previously been a Senior Fellow of The Atlantic Council in Washington, and a Ministerial Advisor on the Digital Council of Aotearoa New Zealand.

Kate Sutton, Deloitte – Kate Sutton is a Director at Deloitte with a focus on the future of cities, she leads a team with a focus on supporting the Government and Public Sector in their work and championing Tamaki Makarau Auckland. Prior to this Kate was the Head of the Innovation Centre for the UNDP Asia Pacific Region which stretches from Samoa to Iran. She is an accomplished senior leader with extensive international experience leading innovation and entrepreneurship in the African, European and Pacific regions.

Sam Ragnarsson, Rongo – Thought Architect & Futurist – Sam is a Principal Data and Information expert with extensive experience in working on complex national issues that rely on data and future technology. Sam has a strong background in strategic alignment, risk management, and interagency collaboration, with a focus on data interoperability and the integration of emerging technologies. Thought Architect and Futurist at RONGO, dedicated to shaping the future by addressing complex global challenges through innovative data utilization and technological frameworks.

7.30pm – Close of event
