6:30 PM – Killing Your Darlings
The nature of a creative role is to come up with ideas. In game development, these ideas may look like concept art, game-play mechanics, a piece of code… We come up with an ocean of ideas but only a few are realised. More often than not those dearest to us are shut down.
The key to face this reality and remain passionate about the creation process is a skill that all creatives ought to cultivate.
Érika Casab is a Mexican digital artist based in NZ working as a Senior 2D/3D Artist for CerebralFix. She has accumulated over 10 years of experience in creative fields such as comics, animation, film and video games, working for clients in USA, Latin America, Australia and New Zealand. She is also known for her educational work for Small Robot Studio that has gathered on Youtube more than 4 million views and +65K subscribers. Outside of work, her passions include snowboarding, manic gardening, dog training and eating spicy chips.
