Canterbury Tech Winter Mentor Programme Update – June 2019
With the goal to upskill professional tech workers in Canterbury and to increase networking among professionals, the Canterbury Winter Tech Winter Mentor Programme kicked off at Tūranga on Tuesday 11th June to a great start!
Our programme is based on the Winter of Tech programme run in Wellington by founder Roger Nesbitt. Roger was on hand to introduce the programme and lead participants in a structured meet and greet exercise.
The intensity of conversations notably increased as proteges settled into evaluating what they were looking for in a mentor. Once every mentor met their 18 potential proteges and vice-versa, participants logged into their account and ranked their preferred match. We ran the matching algorithm and with 18 mentors and 18 proteges, the programme is fully subscribed. At this point, all participants have scheduled their first of 6 in-person meetings.
At the end of this programme in early September, we will all get together again to evaluate the programme and assess where to take it next.
Thank you to all the proteges and mentors who have stepped up to join Canterbury Tech’s first Mentor programme.
