Canterbury Tech Summit is back as a full-day in person conference for 2021!

| Canterbury Tech

After a successful, but down-sized conference in 2020 due to Covid-19, Tech Summit is back in growth mode this year, with Jade Software as our Platinum Sponsor. Thanks to Charlotte Walsh (Jade CEO) and the whole Jade team for taking on the mantle this year!

We will be at Haere-roa, the University of Canterbury Students’ Association building which is a lovely, modern venue that only opened two years ago in July 2019. Tech Summit will be on Thursday, September 2nd for a full-day of quality speakers, networking and industry exhibitors – with the intention being that it is all live and in-person.

We will have two major concurrent streams, one more technically oriented in nature, and one more oriented towards the business end of our audience spectrum. As a sneak-peak at our stellar speaker line-up, we have Shaun Maloney (Executive Chair of Seequent) and Vaughan Fergusson (founder of Vend) – who are intimately familiar with the stories behind two of NZ’s most successful tech companies.

We also have a half-day mini-stream in the afternoon (Applied Gaming and Immersive Technologies), and expect to have another, unrelated mini-stream in the morning too (to be confirmed).

This post is also partly to inform you of our policy with respect to ticket prices in 2021. After careful consideration and member feedback we’ve decided to reintroduce early bird tickets for Canterbury Tech members at $65 for the full day – this is designed to cover the approximate actual marginal cost of one person attending the summit (food and beverage etc). After early bird ticket sales have concluded, the member price will be $99 per person, and the non-member cost will be $225. We feel these ticket prices offer very good value to members and non-members alike, though they rightly reward our members for their loyalty and membership throughout the year.

In addition to our programme of speakers, there will be ample opportunities for networking. Our venue is well suited to this purpose, and we’ve ensured the time allowed is greater than last year, as per 2020 survey responses. There will be extended morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea breaks and networking over drinks at the conclusion of the proceedings.

Tech Summit 2021 will be the main event of the Canterbury tech sector calendar as usual. We hope you’ll attend to ‘Be Inspired, Connect and Grow’ with your industry colleagues. See you there!
